Charlie was born in Worksop, Nottinghamshire, soon after, taken to his family home in Tickhill, Yorkshire, his adopted County.
A motor mechanic by trade he later joined Doncaster Police.
Married to Eveline in October 1954, they had three children, Gillian a schoolteacher, Jacqueline, a Healthcare Trainer & Roger who became Principal Conductor of the National Children’s Orchestras of Great Britain.
Charlie had 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Sadly, his beloved wife Eveline succumbed to Cancer in July 1996. Charlie continued his love of travelling and walking, enjoying many walking holidays on his own and more sedate holidays later, the last – a trip to China in the summer of 2019.
After taking holidays alone, Charlie later had a couple of companions, Evelyn & Christine.
Also, a keen amateur enthusiast and member of choirs, as a boy, in his local church choir, followed by the Doncaster Constabulary Male Voice Choir, Barnsley Choral Society and later, Gledholt Male Voice Choir.
Charlie was introduced to Masonry by Stan Barrowclough A member of Provincial Lodge and initiated on the 09.05.1975, loyal brother to all his fellow brethren at Mirfield Lodge 1102.
He died suddenly at his home on the 21st March 2020.
