West Riding Masonic Charities - in detail
West Riding Masonic Charities Limited is the designated charity of the Masonic Province of Yorkshire, West Riding. It is a charity and company limited by guarantee deriving all its funds from the voluntary contributions of Freemasons (and their families) within the Province of Yorkshire, West Riding.
The principal aim of the charity is to support present and past Freemasons of the Province and their dependents when in need and who qualify for assistance. The Charity also assists the non Masonic community with grants for community projects through its Provincial Grand Master’s Fund.
As a registered charity and company limited by guarantee West Riding Masonic Charities Limited has a separate constitution and management structure. Whilst Freemasons form the governing body, great care is taken to ensure that the independent working of the charity is maintained and that potential conflicts of interest are managed in an open and appropriate manner.
At the annual meeting of the charity, directors are elected by the members of the charity to serve a three year term of office. The role of the Directors is to administer, control and distribute the funds donated to the charity and to manage the investments of the Charity in a prudent manner.
Sub committees with specific areas of responsibility report back to the main board on a regular basis.
