Brethren and Companions,
Acknowledging the sacrifice of those who fought and died in the 1914-18 War The so-called ”Great War” ended on November 11th 1918 and we will this year celebrate the centenary of the end of that terrible conflict in which over 9 million combatants and 7 million civilians lost their lives across the world. We feel it would be fitting for us as a Province to come together this special year, and every year into the future, to acknowledge the supreme sacrifice made by people from across the world, many of whom had Masonic connections. Our colleagues in the Province of Derbyshire have on an annual basis shown their support by the wearing of a special tie (pictured above) that is permitted to be worn throughout the month of November in both Craft and Royal Arch meetings within their Province. All profits from sales go directly to The Royal British Legion. As Provincial Grand Master and Most Excellent Grand Superintendent we want to introduce this initiative into our Province during this special year which creates an excellent opportunity for Masons across Yorkshire, West Riding to openly demonstrate their act of remembrance and to raise money for a sometimes forgotten services charity. The tie can be worn from 1st to 30th November this and every subsequent year at Craft and Royal Arch meetings in this Province. You can purchase a tie now at the WEB SHOP pages here on the Provincial website. The ties cost £10.00 each plus £1.75 for postage and packing. We would emphasise that participation is entirely voluntary but we hope that our members will embrace this opportunity and join us in marking our support for this worthy charity and our respect for those who made the supreme sacrifice.
