It has long been the custom in Lodges, Chapters and other Masonic units for the passing of a Member to be marked by an “In Memoriam” notice on the Lodge/Chapter summons and often by a brief obituary/eulogy at a subsequent meeting. Unfortunately, this is not possible during the current Masonic suspension, but this section of the website has been created to convey appropriate information about a Members passing and to offer the opportunity to others to post condolence messages.
Any Lodge/Chapter or other Order Member will be able to submit the name of a deceased Member to the Provincial Webmaster via the submission form HERE)
Every request for an entry MUST include a statement that the deceased Members family is aware of and agrees to an entry being published on our website. Please remember that publishing information on this website makes it available to the whole worldwide web.
Submissions should include the deceased Members name, age, date of passing and a short obituary of 100 -150 words.
A suitable photograph can be submitted for inclusion.
Obituaries may include brief information about the person's life and their Masonic career but MUST NOT include any personal information or information relating to their medical history or cause of death.
Where the Webmaster deems it appropriate a slightly longer obituary may be included. This may apply to Past Rulers or holders of very senior rank in an Order. The Webmaster will have total discretion in this regard.
After a suitable period, messages of condolence may be shared with the relevant Lodge/Chapter Almoner for sharing with the Members family.
The Webmaster will retain the right to request the removal of any information that might be insensitive, may breach this general guidance or may offend.
The Webmaster will have absolute discretion over the publication of entries/condolence messages
Notification of a Members passing MUST be made in the usual manner to the Provincial/District Secretary, Scribe E, Recorder of all Orders of which they were a Member.
