Mentoring

“The Lodge Mentor has become and will continue to be one of the three most important pillars within a Lodge.  These are the Charity Steward, the Almoner and the Mentor.  The Mentor is there to give guidance and to encourage development and independence for new and existing members.  He must build a relationship with the Mentee which will last throughout their Masonic careers.  It is only through effective Mentorship and a robust system that we will recruit and retain new members.  We need to make sure that new members are given positive activities within their Lodge to help them gain the most enjoyment and satisfaction from their Freemasonry.”

Clive Hawkins - Provincial Grand Mentor

Lodges should be most aware that mentoring is not only for the newer members, nor for just the first 3 Degrees, but that appropriate mentoring should be considered and readily available for all stages of a Brother’s Masonic career.

The Lodge Mentor is pivotal in the mentoring process and the Brother appointed to take that office should be very carefully chosen by the Lodge as one who is aware of what will be expected of him, has the knowledge and is willing to fulfil the rigours of the office.

Lodge Mentor is not just a convenient appointment.

The purpose of the Mentor Program is to create and sustain an active, educated, and confident Freemason.

Once a new Brother has joined the Lodge, he will only remain if his needs are met. It is also true of the existing Brethren.
