NEWS FROM THE PROVINCIAL GRAND MASTER Happy New Year . . . 2020 – What a year it will be! The Christmas Festivities feel long gone and I have already heard the comment: “Isn’t the year going quickly!” So, let’s get on with things with a plan so that in January 2021 we can look back on a year of achievement, satisfaction and pride. My January message is short and sweet emphasising and reiterating the three key Provincial Objectives to ensure that Freemasonry thrives in our magnificent Province: INCREASING MEMBERSHIP RAISING OUR CIVIC PROFILE ENHANCING MEMBER EXPERIENCES Some observations and plans: INCREASING MEMBERSHIP - 2019 was largely satisfactory as we appear to have stabilised the decline. Tremendous growth to be applauded in some of our Lodges. This will be confirmed when the final statistics are available from Lodge Returns. I look forward to us all reaping the harvest of further increased memberships in 2020 following the solid word undertaken in 2019. I urge every Lodge and every Brother to embrace the excellent and effective suggestions in the Members’ Pathway. If Lodges and Masonic Centres work together for the general benefit of all then we will all succeed. Candidates and growth? It must always be a case of Quality as well as Quantity! Welcome to a New Lodge! Garforth Lodge No. 9987 will be Consecrated on Monday, 10th of February 2020 at Castle Grove Masonic Hall, Leeds. Welcome to the Family of the Province! Remember – As in every walk of Life – Enterprises come and go. I will always consider requests for new Lodges if there is a sound business plan. Show me the route to success and I will sign the Petition. RAISING OUR CIVIC PROFILE – The increased activities within Civic Society during 2019 will continue and grow in 2020. Watch this space for the details of the “Lord Lieutenants’ Support Fund” – Exciting things will happen! ENHANCING MEMBER EXPERIENCES – I am listening! Increased communication, consultation and evaluation will continue to be a feature in 2020. My personal objective is to assist with the provision of suitable activities for each and every Brother to maximise their personal enjoyment. Not everything is compulsory! Some things to consider: . Initiates’ Evenings . Masonic Light and Education (Including Solomon) . Our Provincial Education Programme . New “Member- Focused” Annual Meeting of Provincial Grand Lodge . The Celebrated “Provincial Quiz” . Linking with Inspectorates Overseas . Etc. etc. etc., etc., etc. Interested in getting involved with Provincial activities? Make it known to your Lodge Liaison Officer. No guarantees but I will see what can be done to enhance your Masonic experience. A thought to inspire as we look to the continuing year ahead: “If you don’t try – How would you know that it’s not possible? Insung Hwang My Fraternal Greetings and Regards to you and all your loved ones! May the Great Architect of the Universe bless and protect us. David RW Bro. David S.
