Details of the grants awarded to charities and organisations through the ‘Provincial Meal Appeal Fund’
£4,000 Yorkshire Air Ambulance As with all charities, the impact of the pandemic on both YAA activities and fundraising has already been significant. After a temporary 3-week suspension of service during April, when medical teams were seconded back to the NHS frontline, YAA were quickly responding to 999 calls again across Yorkshire.
However, with the safety of aircrews and patients in foremost, teams are now trained to respond using full PPE. This ensures the doctors and advanced trauma paramedics can still safely carry out life-saving emergency procedures when needed. Also both helicopter cockpits have had to be adapted with a protective plastic screens that shields the pilots as far as possible.
£1,000 Vision Support Harrogate [registered charity] who support and advise those suffering sight loss. They operate a drop in centre offering activities which help encourage independent living. They also offer a telephone helpline and befriending service and also home visits Due to the pandemic the centre has been closed and in anticipation of re-opening following restrictions being eased, VSHD will require PPE. They are seeking funding to purchase 100 washable face masks.
£3,000 Halton Moor and Osmondthorpe Project for Elders (HOPE) Leeds [registered charity] supports independence for the elderly living in the local community HOPE helps to relieve poverty, isolation, sickness and assist in the provision of facilities for general welfare with the object of improving the condition of life. Most service users are vulnerable and shielding from Covid-19. The cost of Masks & gloves for 10 volunteers is £200 per month. Provision of 50 activity packs for shielding and vulnerable adults is £300 Additional funds are also required to help towards the increasing costs for Food Hampers for vulnerable users and the provision and delivery of Afternoon Tea by the Stroke & Friendship Club.

The Leeds African Communities Network (LAC) An additional £1,000 was approved from the Meal Appeal Fund.
Memory Lane Day Care Ltd. An additional £2,000 was approved from the Meal Appeal Fund.
West Yorkshire Medic Response Team An additional £3,000 was approved from the Meal Appeal Fund.
